FOOTBALL
A football team was formed after the reception of funding from the Grants Team. Four members of the Zimbabwean Community namely Trevor Chinhengo, Limuka Sibanda, Aaron Moyo and Tapiwa Kundoro have volunteered to train and manage the team.
The football team prepares for matches at the Sloughbottom Park, Norwich.
The Norfolk Community Foundation funding was used to purchase the following items;
1. Football team uniforms (shirts, pair of shorts, pair of socks and a pair of shin pads)
2. Training vests.
3. A football
4. A first Aid kit and
5. Football training Cones.
The Zimbabwean Community Football team Norwich has played the Zimbabwean Community Football team in Ipswich.
The Football team travelled to Ipswich and played the Zimbabwean Community Football team in Ipswich on the 30th of June 2012.
The return match was played at the ZIMCAN Family BBQ day at the Morley Village Hall on the 28/08/2012.
The Zimbabwean Community Football team Norwich also took part in the Football tournament hosted by the Norfolk Black History Month on the 30/09/2012. The tournament was held at the Sports Park at the UEA. More than 10 Norfolk teams competed in the prestigious tournament. The Tournament, which is organised in partnership with Norwich and Central Norfolk Mind CDW, Norfolk Constabulary Diversity Unit and Norfolk FA, aims to promote community cohesion and provides an opportunity to celebrate Black History Month in partnership with the community, as well as to create a lasting, positive relationship between diverse communities. The winning team wins the Norfolk BHM Football Tournament champions Trophy.
In future we look forward to play against other teams in and around Norwich.
The football team has members with an age range of 18 years to 48 years. Playing football is helping the members of the community to realise healthy lifestyles.
